Life in UK

Proof of our arrival

We truly are here. More profound posts coming, but wanted to offer visual proof we made it. BTW….My daughter took the pic. Not bad for a 7-year old. What says UK more than a double-decker bus?

Traveling again

We are hours away from leaving the US and traveling again. However a couple weeks ago my in-laws visited and we took them to one of our favorite spots for a day trip: Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson. Near Jefferson’s house is an apple orchard (Carter Mountain) poised on a hilltop overlooking Charlottesville. Here are some pics from the trip.

Check the back of an older nickel. The architecture and thought of this house is way ahead of its time.

Mr. Jefferson

God did make 'em, and He made these on Carter Mountain.

This barn is on the property where we did orientation. I'd walk out the back gate each morning as the sun came up. Great way to start a day.

Where’s Chris?

Wow, hard to believe I am sitting here at the window of the building in which we have lived for 8 weeks writing about the last four days of orientation. Praise God!!!! I once spent 8 weeks in boot camp 23 years ago after joining the Naval Reserves. Internet connection was about as good then as it has been here….and Al Gore had not yet invented it yet! Seriously, it has been the extreme inconvenience of having to “witch” for a signal (as in the old expression “witching for water”) that has prevented me from posting more. I’m sitting at the window because I am pointed at the building 40 yards from here that houses the wireless router.

So, here we are, five days from when we are supposed to leave for the UK and no visas yet. I would say I’m stressed but as much as I’d like to be, really no point in it. Nothing we can do but pray and wait. God will grant us the visas when He is ready to put us on a plane. However, we do encourage all who read to pray for the things to come no later than Tuesday.

One other item, we had cards made up to pass out to folks to remind them to pray for our family. Since I have not been blogging consistently I assumed I remembered the address. Wrong. We printed 500 cards with the wrong URL. Below is the card. Feel free to print it off and stick it somewhere where you’ll remember to pray….then PRAY! You can start by praying for the visa issue and our transition overseas – especially our daughter’s.

I promise postings will come more frequently.

Thanks for praying!
